Upgrading the capacity
The capacity of the hospital needs to be increased to 100 beds, along with development of psychiatric sub-specialty services. For this, upgrading the hospital’s infrastructure, increasing the number and quality of human resources, increasing the budget allocation from the government and improving the hospital’s resource generating capacity are needed in order to upgrade the overall capability of the hospital.

National Mental Health Center
There is an aim of developing the hospital into a national mental health center with the aim of:

-Making it a center of excellence for the development of mental health services
-Establishing a center for carrying out research activities in the field of mental health and a center for training and academic/   educational activities
-Developing community mental health services including psychiatric tele-medicine facilities
-Initiating emergency mental health services
-Acting as an advisor to the Ministry of Health and Population with regards to the issues of mental health in the country.

Autonomy
Plan to work towards achieving an autonomous status for the hospital which will give a greater flexibility and authority to the hospital management committee in planning, implementation, recruitment and development work

Academic and Research Activities
The hospital plans to start academic activities in order to produce different categories of mental health professionals, which are very essential for the country. It also plans to start regular research activities related to different areas of mental health.

Protection of Fundamental Rights of the mentally ill
The hospital plans to work towards protection of the human rights of people living with mental illnesses, in its own capacity and in collaboration with other stakeholders.

Prevention of mental illness and Promotion of mental health
As a component of the community mental health program, the hospital plans to work for the prevention of mental illnesses and the promotion of mental health and well being of an individual.

International Relations
The hospital intends to engage meaningfully with international partners which will aid in the development of the hospital services and will help in exchanging professional experiences.
